Teaching

As an educator, I believe that chemistry should be taught in the context of one鈥檚 natural experiences in the world, and that every event in life is connected. In the classroom, I make an attempt to create a connection not only between different areas of chemistry, but also across the various disciplines. My major emphasis while teaching, face-to-face or hybrid or remotely is to reach out to every student, understand what their goals are and help them achieve their goals.

I often try to perform as many chemical demonstrations as possible because chemistry is a hands-on science and only through tactile manipulations can we learn these subtle but important concepts. Students enrolled in my class can participate in these demonstrations regardless of whether they are on campus or remote. Often, students are quite surprised by the showers, blasts, and light effects of our demonstrations. These activities leave an indelible mark on students and helps students recollect chemical facts due to the nature of the experiments that we do.
